Poi is a performance art and also the name of the equipment used for its execution. As a skill toy, poi is a theatrical object or prop used for games of dexterity or object manipulation. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights, in this case a cork ball, through a variety of rhythmic and geometric patterns. Poi performers may also sing or dance while swinging their poi.
